~ FIVER FOR FRIDAY is back ~ PLEASE SHARE!
Today we are asking our amazing supporters to take part in Fiver for Friday to help us keep on top of the incoming invoices associated with the daily care of the horses. We have amazing supporters who have set up reoccurring donations but unfortunately they don’t cover all of our expenses. We have 80 horses in care at the sanctuary alone, plus our horses out in foster care, and feed is our biggest expense. On top of that we have the rent, farrier, veterinary, water, staff costs and it doesn’t take long to add up! With no grazing in the paddocks we have had to increase feeds and we are averaging $3500 per week in hard feeds/supplements and approx $1500 a week in hay!
The committee has made a conscious effort to not be asking repeatedly for funds and hoped that the reoccurring donations and the raffle ticket sales would keep things turning over and, while we have kept the accounts at bay as best we can, we do need to run regular fundraisers to continue providing the best of care to the horses.
We are aware there has been some negative publicity surrounding some questionable rescue organisations of late and we do our very best to remain as transparent as possible, we welcome people to contact us if they’d like to come and visit the sanctuary and we will soon be implementing new monthly volunteer induction days so that people interested in volunteering can come along and see what we do. We would hate for the actions of a minor few to affect the operating ability of many great rescues in Aust from being able to continue fighting for the animals.
So this Friday we are asking for only 1200 of the over 200,000 followers on our page to donate just $5 to help keep our accounts at bay - that’s less than a cup of coffee in most places! We can’t do what we do without your support and we need to ensure we keep on top of our expenses to continue our work!
